The Palio di Siena series of Italian Ceramic Tiles celebrates Il Palio, one of the oldest and most famous horse races which occurs each year in Siena, Italy. Started in The Middle Ages, each Contrada (neighborhood) of Siena would enter a horse in the race. Each of the 17 neighborhoods was represented by a mascot (i.e. Civetta, Giraffa, Onda, etc.). Hand Painted in Deruta, Italy by Fratelli Mari, one of the most prestigious companies of Deruta, these beautiful yet durable Italian ceramic tiles are perfect for kitchen backsplashes, counters, baths, tables, walls, fireplaces or any areas you wish to decorate. You can even use them as trivets or just decorative pieces on a stand. Fratelli Mari Maioliche is the only company in Deruta authorized to reproduce the Palio decorations.The Palio di Siena Contrade Tiles are sold in 3 sizes (10 cm x 10 cm; 15 cm x 15 cm; or 20 cm x 20 cm).
