Founded in 1306, the medieval Tuscan town of Scarperia has long been celebrated as the “Town of Knives.” Nestled in the hills north of Florence, Scarperia developed a remarkable reputation for producing finely crafted knives and cutting tools. By the 15th century, the town's Master Knifemakers had established formal statutes to regulate their craft, protect quality standards, and preserve the traditions that would make Scarperia famous throughout the world.

The history of Coltelleria Saladini dates to the mid-19th century, when parish records from Fagna, near Scarperia, documented members of the Saladini family working as Master Knifemakers. Generations later, the family continues this distinguished tradition, combining time-honored techniques with innovative design and an unwavering commitment to quality.

Today, Saladini Italian knives are admired for their exceptional craftsmanship, elegant designs, and carefully selected materials. Each knife reflects the skill of experienced artisans, with meticulous attention paid to every detail, from the shaping of the blade to the finishing of the handle. Traditional materials, including natural horn and fine woods, give these handcrafted Italian knives their distinctive character and timeless appeal.

While remaining faithful to Scarperia's historic knifemaking heritage, Coltelleria Saladini has expanded its collection to meet the needs of modern customers. Alongside traditional Italian collector knives, Saladini creates an impressive selection of kitchen knives, table cutlery, corkscrews, cigar cutters, and distinctive accessories.

Every Saladini creation represents a remarkable combination of Italian heritage, artisan craftsmanship, and functional beauty—a tradition of excellence passed down through generations.
